I grew up in a very hand-made household, and the lifestyle and lessons are still with me today. I sewed, crafted, crocheted, and cooked from scratch, and mended/repaired things that needed attention. Great lessons!!
I picked up some knitting needles in 2008 while recovering from Breast Cancer. I never knit in my youth, but I wanted to learn something new. I loved it, never knowing how good Knitting is for you. It keeps your brain sharp, as well as creating a sense of calming meditation. While the process of knitting is enjoyable, the finished product is a source of pride and happiness.
The knit pieces started to pile up and I went to my first Vendor Show, and sold out my table!!! I have enjoyed every minute (well almost) of the journey. I made things I never knew I could do, I envisioned items, and then made them. This was fun.
The best thing in the journey was the amazing people I met. They encouraged me, they complimented my designs, and they provided me with an income and an immense source of pride.
As a 6-time Cancer survivor, I also decided to give back a portion of my sales for my newfound purpose and make a donation to the Breast Cancer Clinic in London, Ontario. Never give up!
